High School Update

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, our students (and our faculty) will be voting in Ursuline’s mock presidential elections. Tuesday evening, we will have a special Election Night program at school. Pizza and soda are available for students in the Lions’ Den from 6:30 p.m. until 7:10 p.m. After eating, students will be directed to the auditorium, where we will have, among other activities, a pie-eating contest and a political trivia contest. We will also show CNN’s election results and announce the winners of the Academy’s mock election. Parents are invited to attend, and the evening will be over at 9 p.m.

All students (and faculty) who attend the evening’s festivities will be allowed to report to school at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday morning – except our juniors, who will be leaving for their retreat at 9 a.m. (the juniors must be at St. Ursula’s Hall at 8:30 a.m. for sign-in). Any students who do not participate in the Election Night festivities will be expected to arrive on campus and report to the Lions’ Den at the regularly scheduled school time of 8 a.m., where I will be checking to make certain everyone is present. If you have any questions about the evening, please feel free to contact me so that I might answer your questions.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, our junior class will be headed for the Lumen Christi Retreat Center in Houma for their class retreat. Busses will depart for Lumen Christi at 9 a.m. for this overnight retreat. The juniors will return to Ursuline on Thursday afternoon prior to dismissal.

Friday, Nov. 7, is a special schedule day. Seniors will have a day off so that they might make college visits without interrupting their class schedules. All other students will arrive on campus prior to 8 a.m. and will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

I hope to see all our parents at La Fete 281 on Friday evening. This celebration is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the larger Ursuline community in our beautiful courtyard. Please be generous in your support of our efforts on behalf of the girls. And plan to attend our Homecoming Mass at 9:30 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, Nov. 9, in the Chapel. There will be a brunch immediately following the Mass.
