COURAGE
In continuing our Character Development program this year, our character trait this month is COURAGE. This is one of our Ursuline core values. The definition of courage is: facing difficult situations bravely, with self-confidence and resolution.
Quote of the month:
“Have faith and keep up your courage.”
—- St. Angela Merici 5th Counsel

Thursday’s Lunch Period Offers Chance to Participate and Serve

On Thursday, September 3rd, students within the High School Division will have the opportunity to participate in Club Assembly. It is at this assembly that students are introduced to the many clubs and organizations on campus that offer students the opportunity to not only better themselves but to also better the community in which they live.
We encourage each student to participate in Club Assembly and to become a member of at least one club. Remember, Serviam: I Will Serve is the motto of an Ursuline student.
Thank you to E-Board President Daisy Miller ‘10, Ms. Calloway, and the Student Council for making Club Assembly possible.

Trip to Westbank to Kickoff the Year That Could Be…..

Hollins '11 begins her junior season with UA Volleyball
With excitement building on campus regarding the possibility that this could be Ursuline Volleyball’s best chance ever to win the state championship, all members of the Ursuline family invite you to the season opener when our Lions travel to the Westbank to play at the Academy of Our Lady (the campus of the old Immaculata High School).
We are also happy to announce that Event 3 of the 2009-10 Spirit Competition will be held on Tuesday, September 8th, when our Lions’ host E.D. White. On that day, our Ursuline will battle the defending state champions. With that being said, we will pack the MBO Athletic Center and help push our team to its biggest victory of the year.
Good Luck to Ursuline Volleyball…. Roar Lions Roar.

Student Body to Join with Cabrini to Raise Awareness

Pink Week 2008 Was a Huge Success
We are happy to announce that Ursuline Academy will team up with Cabrini High School to Paint the Gym Pink. Once again, this important game will be held on State St. Though the volleyball team will compete in hopes of obtaining a win over a very good opponent, the overall goal of the game is to help promote awareness about breast cancer and other cancer related issues.
Last year, Ursuline Academy teamed up with McGehee School, and the two schools raised nearly $13,000 for research. Pink Week was a truly memorable day and the students are already looking forward to the 2009 version.
Just as we did last year, special t-shirts are available for purchase. The money raised from the t-shirt sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation — the most well known organization when it comes to research and awareness of cancer and cancer related issues.
T-shirts are available for all members of the Ursuline Academy family, not merely the student body. Therefore, help us raise as much money as possible by purchasing a t-shirt for mom, dad, grandma, cousin Earl and each member of your family. Remember, all funds will go to this worthy cause .
Click here to download a T-shirt order form. All forms should be returned to Ms. Calloway in Room 323.
Deadline to order a T-shirt | Sept 2
Cabrini v. Ursuline – September 23 in the MBO Athletic Center. Games begin early, and the varsity will play at 6 p.m.

Peer Ministry and the Eighth Grade Leps Spend the Day to Enrich Their Lives

Leps '10 (Sioux '14) Quickly Adjusting to High School
On Friday, August 28th, The God Squad of Peer Ministry performed one of the many tasks associated with being on the retreat team. During the course of the year, the God Squad will coordinate four retreats (senior retreat will be coordinated by the Campus Minister). Today, the first retreat of the year was held when The God Squad spent the day with the Eighth Grade Leps.
Here are a few pictures from today’s retreat. From the many smiles present in the pictures, it is clear that Campus Minister Ms. Otto and the God Squad succeeded in making the first retreat of the year a big success. The only negative side of today’s success, everyone now expects each future retreat to be bigger and better. Do not worry, if there is any group that can ensure four successful retreats within one year, it is The God Squad.
