Occasionally Overlooked for Contributions; Lionettes and Cheerleaders’ Support Appreciated

Each year, UA fans pack the MBO Athletic Center to support their favorite athletes. This year, our fans saw the basketball program advance to the LHSAA Class 4A State Quarterfinals. However, that achievement was overshadowed by the history-making season of Ursuline Volleyball that can be remembered as…… EPIC. This year, we saw the Volleyball program capture the LHSAA Division III State Championship: the first state Championship in the academy’s history (surpassing our previous best season which occurred in 1996 when the baksetball team finished as State Runner-Up). What a year it was and thanks to two organizations, the year was super-special.

We are confident that the basketball and volleyball programs would be in agreement when we say that the Lionettes and Cheerleaders each deserve a portion of the teams’ success. At each home game, either the Lionettes were introducing the lastest and greatest dance moves to keep the fans entertained during the long games, or UA CHEER was there screaming (we mean cheering) their lungs out trying to give the teams that little something extra that would put them onto the right side of victory. There are no state titles for cheering and/or dancing. Rarely are these two organizations thanked for their appearance and support at the game. However, our oversight may actually be a compliment for the two organizations. They have become such a key part of the athletic department’s success, that we simply take it for granted that they will be there (along with marching in parades, competing in competitions, practicing, and a little something called obtaining an education).

To the Lionettes and UA CHEER, though you may never have the spotlight directly on you, rest assure that each member of the Ursuline Academy familyand supporters of the Athletic Department are appreciative of your effort and support.
