Dads’ Club meeting is Tuesday, October 19th at 6 p.m. in the Lions’ Den. As always, dinner and refreshments will be provided. Our tentative meeting schedule for the rest of this school year is: January 18th and April 19th (supplemental meetings can be arranged as needed) – these dates should avoid any major events, but if they do conflict with something major, please let me know.
Our first meeting of the year was a great success thanks to your participation – now we need to capitalize on that momentum to get some things done around campus. We have a lot of events coming in late October and early November, hence the quick 2nd meeting.
Also, while everyone showed a high level of enthusiasm for new Officers’ positions and the formation of various committees, I’m sorry to report that I have received hardly any responses indicating an interest in participating as either an Officer or on a Committee. I understand many of you may be leery of making a commitment you might not be able to keep – however, if we all pitch in a little, none of us will be left to handle an entire project. We repeatedly ask our girls to live up to the UA motto of Serviam – well, what better way to teach than by example. Please come to our meeting next Tuesday, and I’m sure you’ll find a way you can help.
The following is our preliminary agenda for next Tuesday’s meeting – if you have any comments or concerns, please email or call me anytime.

I. Opening Prayer and Brief Comments from the UA Admin Team
II. Planning and Logistics for Upcoming Events
a. UA Athletic BBQ on 10/27 – Paul Schmidt, Chair
b. Open House on 10/30 – we have lots of volunteers, we need a Chair to organize shifts
c. Le Fete on 11/5
i. Setup/Take-Down
ii. Specialty Drink/Jewelry Raffle Table
III. Dads’ Club Structure for Remainder of Year
a. Interest in Assuming Officers Slots
b. Committees – we have several projects. Now we need to get some people on committees to get things started. Suggested Committees (at this time):
i. Physical Plant Improvements – This is admittedly broad, but can have subcommittees. Also, this would be a standing committee that would spin off its own subcommittees as it sees fit. Joe Buckley has volunteered to Chair. Some subcommittees could include:
1. Bike Rack Project – Glenn Romero and John Amato have shown interest already.
2. PC Closet – Need to help seal outer wall and put in shelves, etc. Closet is currently a mess.
3. Drama Storage – Need to coordinate with admin, drama directors, and Bart.
4. Softball Field Maintenance/Construction (this is also an Athletic issue, but makes more sense here in my opinion) – I’ve already had one dad start looking into procuring a tractor. We’d need to meet with Bekki to see what she really needs. John Amator has volunteered to assist.
ii. Father/Daughter Golf Tournament – need team to get this off the ground and moving. If you’ve worked golf tournaments elsewhere, please sign up!
iii. Athletic Committee – Determine needs of various athletic teams and find ways the Club can help, including: getting equipment the girls need; facility maintenance; working concessions
at games; etc. Would also have goal of marshaling support from dads that have girls participating in any given event. Would interface with our AD, Bekki Bonnaffee.
iv. PC Support Committee – dedicated to making sure all PC events have adequate Dads’ Club support (i.e., Open House, Le Fete (setup and working), Spaghetti Supper, etc). Right now,
I’m a committee of one and could use some help.
v. Faculty Support Committee – make sure all faculty know we’re here to help, and find ways to do so. Would likely dovetail with Physical Plant Improvements in some cases.
vi. Athletic BBQ Committee – Current Chair: Paul Schmidt
vii. Mardi Gras Cookout Committed – Current Chair: Joe Dalgo
viii. Zephyrs’ Night Committee – Current Chair: Glen Romero
ix. Dads’ Club By-Laws and Constitution Committee – need to get this organized if we’re going to have more structure.
x. Fund Raising Committee (need full admin support on this, as we do not want to interlope on established UA fund-raising activities)
