The third grade class learned about the history of New Orleans and the Ursuline nuns during the War of 1812 and the Battle of New Orleans.  The girls went on a field trip to take a children’s walking tour of the French Quarter and to tour the Hermann-Grima House in the French Quarter.  On Monday, April 30th, the girls celebrated the 200th birthday of Louisiana becoming a state.

The Middle School Robotics Team participated in the second annual Archdiocesan Robotics Competition at Holy Cross School on April 24, 2012.

The girls programmed three tasks prior to the competition and received two mystery tasks the day of competition.  The girls were extremely successful and left with the “Mini-Bot Award.”  Excellent Job!

Ursuline Academy Toddler 2 and Toddler 3 students recently worked on building a lemonade stand. The project, inspired by a book read in class, also involved learning about how lemonade is made and brainstorming a name, color scheme and design for the stand. The Home Depot donated materials and helped the students with construction. The toddlers plan to sell lemonade and donate the proceeds to a children’s charity.

IMG_4406 modifiedLegend has it in the 1920s, the author Ernest Hemingway bet $10.00 that he could write a story in only six words. The 7th graders were asked to try the same thing.  They had to summarize the story of their life in only six words called a six-word memoir.  We then wrote their memoirs in sidewalk chalk.

We also made an animoto video of more pictures from the day. Here is the link:
