The 2011 season was one of the best yet for the Ursuline Cross Country Team. The season ended with a trip to the Louisiana State Cross Country Meet at Northwestern State University at Natchitoches. The team finished fifth out of 21 high schools which was an accomplishment in itself. The four seniors were instrumental in bringing success and leadership to the team. Captain Caroline Knecht was ecstatic to achieve her personal goal of placing in the top three for District 4A in the state. State LHSSA official Basil Johnson shook Knecht’s hand, reminding her that last year she told him that she would love to place in the top three as a senior – and she did just that this year. ”I thoroughly enjoyed working with all of the girls on varsity, JV, and middle school through the ups and downs of the season. The girls emerged with radiance and good sportsmanship, proudly representing Ursuline Academy. If I remain in New Orleans for college, I hope to be able to work with the girls next season,” said Knecht.

Congratulations to the Track and Field team for its 3rd Place finish at the 2011 Chalmette Track Meet on Thursday. With many participants finishing in the Top 3 of their events, Coach Davis was pleased with the performance. Junior Caroline Knecht ‘12 led the team with victories in the mile and 800m races. Knecht ‘12 was named MVP of the meet for her two first place finishes.
Also, congratulations to Coach Gardner and the Ursuline Golf team. The team played well and defeated a very good Newman Golf team. Ursuline’s success was anchored by the strong play of senior Charlotte McLoughlin ‘11 and junior Holland Ledet ‘12. At last year’s Athletic Awards Ceremony, McLoughlin ‘11 and Ledet ‘12 were the two award winners within the golf categories and this year’s performance is providing us with evidence of why they were named Most Valuable and Most Improved.
