Congratulations, Caroline.

Congratulations, Caroline.

Congratulations to the Track and Field team for its 3rd Place finish at the 2011 Chalmette Track Meet on Thursday. With many participants finishing in the Top 3 of their events, Coach Davis was pleased with the performance. Junior Caroline Knecht ‘12 led the team with victories in the mile and 800m races. Knecht ‘12 was named MVP of the meet for her two first place finishes.

Also, congratulations to Coach Gardner and the Ursuline Golf team. The team played well and defeated a very good Newman Golf team. Ursuline’s success was anchored by the strong play of senior Charlotte McLoughlin ‘11 and junior Holland Ledet ‘12. At last year’s Athletic Awards Ceremony, McLoughlin ‘11 and Ledet ‘12 were the two award winners within the golf categories and this year’s performance is providing us with evidence of why they were named Most Valuable and Most Improved.

Miranda '11 Has Taken Her Place as One of UA's Top Athletes

As she has done throughout the past three years, senior Kristen Miranda ‘11 continued to prove that she has solidified herself as one of the area’s top pole vaulters. On State St., it is no surprise that Miranda ‘11 has continued to improve. Everyone knows that Miranda ‘11 is always on the brink of victory at each and every meet. However, after her recent success, Miranda ‘11 will be known by everyone in the track and field community.

Miranda ‘11 finished in 1st Place in her division of the AAU Track and Field Meet on Jne 18th. With her success, Miranda ‘11 has qualified to participate in the Junior Olympics in Norfolk, Virginia later this summer. Miranda ‘11 surpassed the 10′9″ mark at the AAU meet and that top quality performance gives Miranda ‘11 a chance of doing very well in Virginia.

On behalf of the Athletic Department, the Academy, and friends of the Academy, we would like to congratulate Kristen and her family for a job well done and to wish her well in August when she competes in the Junior Olympics.
